Our next natural health product is “Spirit Essences” from Jackson Galaxy. Many of you may know him from ‘My Cat from Hell’ series on TV. Did you know that it is not just his amazing personality and cool cat gear that help those sweet babies turn over a new leaf? He also uses his own products when dealing with these cases.
Spirit Essences are all naturally made with physical and energetic ingredients – Reiki energy and a variety of flower, animal, and gem essences. There is a wide range of products in the “Spirit Essences” range. A lot of them are for all animals, and some are breed specific. I know it is a rather long list, but I thought I would add it on due to the fact that Kittycat Magazine is the only place you can get the “Spirit Essences” in South Africa, and many of you may not know of them.

I was given a bottle of “Happy Tummy” from Kittycat Magazine to review and it was amazing! Isabella has always had a very sensitive tummy, and in a month of using “Happy Tummy”, I have seen a great improvement. (This article may get a bit graphic, sorry!) As you can imagine, a runny tummy for a cat with long white hair may not be the most fun you plan on having, first thing in the morning, or in the middle of dinner time when she decides to go.
There are many ways to use the “Spirit Essences”, i.e. Rubbing it on to the cat’s body, spraying it in the room or on a toy, and even orally, but they do taste horrible. I’m sure if it is for stress or calming, putting it on the body, or on something the cat will come in contact with like a blankie, would be 100% but since “Happy Tummy” is for her stomach, I have been putting 5 drops in her wet food once or twice a day. The directions instruct up to 3-4 times a day, but they also say more drops don’t help it work faster.
After about 2 weeks I had started noticing a difference. Her stools started becoming more solid (but not too hard), and were solid enough that they have not been getting stuck in her very long floof on the back of her legs. After just more than a month of her being on “Happy Tummy”, she is really more regular and making very healthy stools. My bottle is not even a third of the way through after 2 months! It may be a bit more expensive than your other herbal remedies as it is imported from the US and couriered sue to our wonderful postal service in SA. But it is well worth it and it last long.
A lot of people who show their cats have raved about “Stress Stopper”, helping to calm even the most scared of cats at a shop. I cannot speak for it as I have never tried it, but many people have come back for more.
Some of the products I do not believe in, as at the end of the day pets are pets, and they should still have the right to act like the animals they are and not have to fit in with a human’s life 100%. Some of them are to treat cruel things that humans may have done to pets, which should have not been done in the first place, but other than that, I think if it helps with the problem your cat (or dog and bird) has, then why not!
