There are so many talented and amazing people out there, and the ones that love cats are even better! Haha I know I may be biased. My kitty shopping dream list if probably longer than you could imagine, but most of it is either online or overseas. Due to the lack of postal service in South Africa, I am always too scared to order things online and never get them. I also cannot expect people to courier my things as it costs way too much, no matter what currency you are working in.

I started looking at my list and realised there are some options that do not involve receiving anything via post but rather via email. That would work. Two of these amazing, creative, and cat loving humans were Olive & Rye, and Kooee Papercraft.

I found out about Olive & Rye as they were one of the cat accounts that I follow on Instagram. They always used to post these really cute animated pictures of themselves. One day they announced that they were going to open an Etsy Store so people could order animated images of their own cats, due to popular demand. I was ecstatic! There are other people who do these sort of things, but they cost a lot and due to our ever weakening Rand, we just cannot afford anything much when it comes to Dollars. We don’t even look at Pounds and Euros anymore. The other people also send you printed copies and it would be lost or damaged and be a waste of money for us. After following Olive & Rye for so long, I had grown so fond of the way her cats were done. I knew they were right for us.

We entered tons of competitions to win a free image made by Olive & Rye, but we never seem to be in luck. Eventually, I gave in and decided I really wanted one of these and I was going to just get one.

I ordered just a plain portrait of Isabella and included her Instagram handles so that Laura could reference her photos and get to see a bit of her purrsonality. A few days later, I was amazed at the amazing images I got back. It was Isabella on her favourite cushion and it looked just like her. All the smallest details that you think only a humom and dad get to see and take note of, they were all there. It was so personal and to think Laura has never ever seen or met her in person. I also received a wonderful little round image to use as her profile picture and you would have noticed it has also become the image to identify this blog by. Even though I use the round image the most, all of you have seen it, it is the original image that I absolutely love the most because it is so personal. In a way, it has also become a great reminder of the wonderful first month we spent with Isabella when she first came home with us. Summer days sitting outside on the balcony, in the sun, on her cushion.

Thank you Laura, Olive & Rye for the great images and the touch of love you put into your work! You make cat ladies everywhere proud.

The second item I had been eyeing out for ages was Kooee Papercraft. I had seen that there were a lot of our Instagram friends that got little paper models made of themselves and they were just the cutest things. I had looked at the prices, and again, it was quite a lot for us to spend on something like this. But, you all already know I am a confessed shopping addict. After I had seen a fellow blogger (Craft and The Cat) do a great interview with Amy from Kooee Papercraft, I knew I was going to get one right away! The second I finished reading the interview I scrolled up, clicked on the Etsy link and placed my order. A few days later, I got an email with my ‘Paper Belly’, a.k.a “Flat Belly”. It was just like her, and it even had the great little pink collar and name tag she always has on, as a little accessory to add on to my paper cat doll.

There are three ladies at my work that I am friends with. Alta – loves cats but is too scared to get one because she has two big dogs. Bianca – loves her little dogs, but has a cat as well, and loves them just as much. Reds – Her fiancé loves cats and she won’t let him get one even though she thinks they are cute. They all have their very own Paper Bell’s all for their very own reasons. We have our Paper Belly on the TV stand, but Isabella thinks it is funny to knock her off and chew on the leg.

You can get your very own Paper Belly this weekend at the Wodac World of cats and dogs, when making a donation to one of the kitty shelters we will be supporting. Visit us at the Kittycat Magazine Stand, stand 108.

Thank you so much to Amy from Kooee Papercraft, for making it so easy for everyone who loves cats to have a little Paper Belly in their lives. You make cat ladies everywhere proud!

So, even though it feels like sometimes we live in an island in the middle of nowhere, there are ways to get all the wonderful international kitty joys that you want. If we find anymore great kitty creations out there, we will let you know first!!

Remember you can follow both of our new friends on Instagram too:
