As any crazy cat person, living in South Africa, would already know there is a limited amount of cat brands out there compared to dog brands. Most cat products are not locally made and cost a lot more than dog products.
I am always on the lookout for new brands and new stores. Most of the pet stores in my area already know me as I walk in the door, as I pop in every week to see if there is anything new to buy. The marketing for pet products is not very big in our country either, so you don’t really know when new products are coming to the stores, unless you are following the suppliers on Facebook and most people don’t know who they are.
One of the online stores I have recently come across is Shinga Veterinary Services. They do not have a very wide variety of toys but more health and accessories, like bowls, shampoos, litter products etc. They also stock some amazing brands that you hardly ever see in stores, and when you do, it is only dog items. Their service delivery is absolutely amazing too! I am always apprehensive about online stores and not getting my items or getting the wrong things. I also HATE waiting for stuff. Very impatient, I know hehe.
I placed my order Wednesday morning and only in the afternoon did I notice I forgot to select the colour of the items I wanted. Typical blonde! I quickly emailed Valdette but thought it may have to just get what I get. A few minutes later I got a reply saying that I would get all the colours I wanted and that my package had been collected by the courier already. The next morning when I got to work, there was my beautiful box with the pink Shinga tape on it. I was so happy!
The box did not only have my ordered items in it, but it was filled with some awesome product pamphlets, Acana pellets sample, and a personalised card to Isabella wishing her great fun with all her new goodies.
I know you are probably dying to find out what all the goodies were that I ordered. Well, here they are;
· Beco Bowl R56.00 inc. VAT
· BeCo Spork R52.00 inc. VAT
· Popware Pet Bowl Grippmat R165.00 inc. VAT
· Buddy & Friends Super Absorbent Towel R210.00 inc. VAT
I love the fact that the BeCo products are eco friendly and are made from natural plant fibres, Rice Husks, and Bamboo. The bowl is shaped so that the cats whiskers don’t touch the side while eating. Isabella’s problem with the shape is she lands up pushing the pellets out of the lower sides. Great part about the bowl is that it is nice and wide so its great for pellets if you cat munches at it all day.

The spork is amazing and I wish I could get a few more so that I have one available for all meal times. Isabella gets two wet meals a day, so we land up going through a ton of spoons. They're either in the sink, drying rack, or we have used them for the copious amount of coffee I drink. It scoops well and mashes the food well too, if you are dealing with the mousses, pâté or raw minces type foods like us. When washing, just a note to make sure you get right inbetween the prongs of the fork side as they are quite tight and you might miss it, I'm sure that if you are putting it in the dishwasher it will be ok as BeCo products are dishwasher safe too, but we only have a Ray washer in our house haha.

The Popware Pet Bowl Grippmat is my best buy for the month! I have been looking since December for a non-slip mat for Isabella’s bowls. Even though all her bowls (except the BeCo bowl) are non-slip, it is nice to catch the dropped pellets and prevent ants. Shinga is the only store (pet and other) that I have found a non-slip mat. I had looked everywhere for one, trust me haha. I give it a 10/10. It is non-slip, it's lip around the edge prevents ants, and it comes in pink hehe.

Last but not least is the Buddy & Friends Super Absorbent Towel. This was actually in the dogs grooming section, but I suppose not everyone’s cats get bathed as much as show cats. I think the towel was meant for a shorter haired pet, like a Staffie, or a Siamese, as it doesn't soak up that much of the water. It is very warm and cosy, so I dry Isabella with a normal towel and then wrap her in the Buddy & Friends Super Absorbent Towel while she sits on my lap for a blow dry. It is also nice and soft to wipe her face with. Plus, she looks super cute, all wrapped up after her bath.

Over all, this was a great buy. Great service, products, and overall store! Thank you Shinga! The rest of the BeCo range is on my shopping list for next time!
