Ray and I had been contemplating getting a cat since we moved in together as he knew I would never survive leaving my three babies; Niki, Truffle and Pancake, behind with my parents. It has been a difficult three months without them but I have been driving back and forth to visit them as much as I can.

On Saturday 19 July 2014 we went to the Wodac – The world of dogs and cats expo at Gallagher Convention Centerto start looking for a cat breed we liked. We had recently done some online tests to see which cat would be best as she/he would have to stay inside and would be alone while we are at work and had narrowed it down to two breeds; the British Shorthair and the Ragdoll.

We landed up walking round the expo 3 times and collecting all the business cards we could for the British Shorthair breeders and at the end of the day there was one breeder with a Ragdoll cat hanging over her shoulder with a look on her face as if she were saying “What a wonderful slave I have that carries me everywhere I want to go.” She was absolutely beautiful.

We were now torn between the two. British Shorthair or Ragdoll.
